Today, June 16, the final stage of repatriation measures took place in accordance with the agreements reached in Istanbul. Another 1,245 bodies have been returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Thus, Ukraine has received 6,057 bodies under the Istanbul agreements.
Law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.
Personnel from the Central Administration of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Joint Center for Armed Forces Support Measures are transporting the repatriated bodies to designated state specialized institutions and organizing the transfer of the deceased to representatives of law enforcement agencies within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and forensic medical experts within the Ministry of Health.
