Kyiv was rocked by multiple explosions overnight on October 22, with damage reported in the Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts, according to Suspilne. At least two people were killed in the capital, and a fire also broke out in Brovary.

The first air raid alert in Kyiv lasted from 11:57 p.m. to 12:28 a.m., and the second began at 1:05 a.m. Explosions followed just minutes later, with Suspilne correspondents reporting at least three waves of blasts. Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat coming from the north.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that air defense systems were active over the capital. In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out following the explosions, and emergency services were dispatched. In the Pecherskyi district, debris fell in the courtyard of a residential building, damaging cars but causing no injuries.

In the Dniprovskyi district, several windows were shattered by the blast wave, but no fires were reported. In Brovary, a private home caught fire after the Russian attack, though the blaze was later contained. An elderly woman born in 1941 was hospitalized in shock but is in stable condition, officials said.

Around 5:30 a.m., more explosions were heard in Kyiv. A fire broke out on the upper floors of a high-rise building in the Dniprovskyi district, killing one person and injuring several others.

Later reports indicated that a drone crashed in the Desnianskyi district, hitting a residential building and causing a fire. Additional debris strikes were recorded in the Pecherskyi district, and emergency services responded to new incidents across Desnianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Pecherskyi districts. In Darnytskyi, debris fell on an unfinished building.

According to Suspilne, rescue operations continue across Kyiv and the surrounding region.
