Ukraine has received another 1.2 billion euros from the European Union under the Ukraine Support Loan programme. The funds are to be directed towards priority defence needs.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the payment.
Including the latest tranche, the total amount of defence financing Ukraine has received under the programme has reached nearly 13 billion euros.
“We continue working with our European partners to ensure that the remaining planned financing arrives on time and in full,” Koretskyi wrote.
He also thanked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU Commissioner Andrius Kubilius and EU member states for their support for Ukraine and efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities.
Koretskyi previously said the government had moved into a maximum-saving mode and postponed all non-priority spending. At the same time, he stressed that this was not enough and that fulfilling Ukraine’s commitments remained important for securing further funding.
