On Saturday night, a Russian attack damaged the bridge across the Dnieper River in Kremenchuk. This was reported by Mayor Vitaliy Maletskiy.
According to him, the structure is owned by Ukrzaliznytsia, and experts are currently assessing the extent of the damage and the possibility of further operation.
‘At present, it is impossible to cross the bridge — it is closed. We are awaiting official information from Ukrzaliznytsia and are ready to provide maximum support from the city to restore transport links as soon as possible,’ Maletskyi said.
The mayor added that during the closure of the structure, algorithms for the work of the medical sector, ambulance services, maternity hospitals, emergency response services and utilities have already been worked out.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, due to damage to infrastructure in the Kremenchuk district caused by shelling, trains No. 59 Odessa-Kharkiv and No. 8 Kharkiv-Odessa will follow a changed route through the stations Poltava-Kyivska, Romodan, Hrebinka, Taras Shevchenko (Smila), Znamianka. Passengers will be transported to Kremenchuk station by bus.
Train No. 260 from Chop will run to Kryukiv-na-Dnipri station, from where bus transfers are also planned. Similarly, for the return route, buses will be waiting for passengers at the Kremenchuk station at 13:30, with a subsequent transfer to carriages to Zakarpattia.
‘In the coming days, while the multi-component repairs are ongoing, there will definitely be train delays in the region due to the detour around the affected area. We will also use buses to transport passengers to/from Kremenchuk from the nearest accessible stations,’ Ukrzaliznytsia said.
They also added that the shelling damaged suburban rolling stock in Kremenchuk, and reserve rolling stock has already been put into service on the routes. However, electric trains No. 6663 Kremenchuk – Znamianka (Korystivka) and No. 6664 Znamianka (Korystivka) – Kremenchuk will not run on 07.09.2025 due to restoration work.
