Beijing has made it clear that China has no intention of supporting Russian fabrications about a joint ‘fight against neo-Nazism.’ Commenting on Putin’s recent statements after his meeting with Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that Beijing would not get involved in such propaganda, according to “Ukrinform”.
When asked whether Putin’s words about joint opposition to ‘modern neo-Nazism’ meant China’s agreement with such statements and support for Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Chinese diplomat responded evasively but made it clear that Beijing stands aside from this rhetoric.
He recalled the recent UN General Assembly resolution on combating neo-Nazism, adopted by an overwhelming majority of countries, and stressed that China’s position on Russia’s war against Ukraine remains unchanged: Beijing is in favour of a peaceful settlement.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also stressed that Beijing is ready to cooperate with all interested parties to establish lasting peace.
Moscow, as before, is trying to impose on the world a narrative of ‘Nazism in Ukraine’ to justify its invasion and crimes. Kyiv and its partners firmly reject these allegations as completely groundless and cynical.
