President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed the opinion that the war in Ukraine could end faster with the policies of future US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Suspilne, he said: “A just peace is important for us, so that there is no feeling that we have lost our best for the sake of injustice. The war will end, but it is difficult to predict the exact date. However, with the policies of this team that will soon lead the White House, the war may end sooner. This is their approach and promise to their society, and it is very important to them.”
Zelenskyy also noted that during his conversation with Trump, he did not hear anything that would be against Ukraine’s position. When asked whether Trump demanded negotiations with Russia, the Ukrainian president replied: “We are an independent country. During this war, both I personally and our people, negotiating with the United States, with Trump, Biden and European leaders, have shown that the rhetoric of ‘Sit down and listen’ does not work with us.”
