Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Serbia for the first time during his presidency and since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. On August 7–8, he will hold talks with President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Đuro Macut.
Zelenskyy announced the visit on Telegram.
According to the president, the key topics of the talks will include expanding economic ties between Ukraine and Serbia, relations with the European Union, and security issues.
“We will discuss expanding economic ties between our countries, relations with the European Union and other things that can work for our peoples, as well as security issues,” Zelenskyy said.
He stressed that Ukraine is committed to constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Serbia based on mutual respect.
In July, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited Kyiv. However, he did not join the joint declaration of the South-East Europe–Ukraine summit, which called for support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia.
