President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has provided its Western partners with information about companies from various countries that supply industrial machine tools to Russia for weapons production. According to him, the Kremlin plans to obtain another 860 units of equipment for the needs of the defence-industrial complex.
‘The Russian Federation is receiving machine tools from some countries. This equipment is used for the production of weapons,’ the head of state said during a conversation with journalists.
Zelenskyy disclosed details about the origin of the machine tools:
- China — 52 companies
- Taiwan — 15
- Germany — 13
- Czech Republic — 8
- South Korea — 6
- Japan and India — 3 each
- United States — 1 company supplies components
The names of the companies have already been forwarded to the EU and the US with a request to impose sanctions. Zelenskyy emphasised that many of these machines have remote electronic control and can be shut down remotely, which could seriously slow down military production in Russia.
‘This is disarming Russia — without weapons,’ the president stressed.
According to Zelenskyy, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine has already sent relevant materials to 26 countries where potential equipment suppliers are based.
Ukraine expects that Western partners will not only respond with sanctions, but will also technically block the use of machine tools on the territory of the Russian Federation.
