U.S. President Donald Trump is not planning to hold a separate bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the upcoming G7 summit in France.
The Guardian reported this, citing a senior U.S. administration official.
According to the report, Trump will participate in a G7 working session attended by Zelenskyy on Tuesday, but no one-on-one meeting between the two leaders is currently scheduled.
At the same time, the U.S. president is expected to hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and India.
During a briefing with reporters, a senior U.S. administration official also commented on the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine. According to the official, Russian territorial gains have “more or less stopped” in recent months.
“We want the war to end as quickly as possible,” the official said.
The G7 summit will take place in Evian, in the French Alps, from June 15 to June 17. Russia’s war against Ukraine and continued support for Kyiv are expected to remain among the key topics discussed by the leaders of the world’s leading democracies.
