President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that negotiations too often discuss concessions in the context of Ukraine alone, “not Russia.” He also said that Europe is “practically absent from the table” and called this “a big mistake.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference.

Zelensky emphasized that peace can only be built on clear security guarantees and said that Ukraine is doing everything to make the negotiations successful and is in contact with representatives appointed by US President Donald Trump.

He also said that Russia took diplomacy “most seriously” when Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries began and when “everyone started talking about Tomahawks,” concluding: “Russia hears strength. The stronger we are, the more realistic peace becomes.”
