Ukraine is adjusting its approach to countering large-scale Russian drone attacks. The Armed Forces are increasing the number of interceptor drones and strengthening troop training.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the enemy is changing tactics in the use of strike UAVs, prompting Ukrainian forces to adapt and develop new countermeasures.

According to him, in March the Command of Unmanned Air Defense Systems was reorganized into the Command of Immediate Air Defense Cover, operating within the Air Force and responsible for developing “short-range air defense,” modernizing equipment and training personnel.

The Armed Forces are also increasing the number of interceptor drone crews and enhancing training.

Syrskyi said that in March the number of interceptor drone sorties and destroyed targets increased by nearly 55% compared to February.

Since the beginning of spring, Ukrainian interceptor drones have destroyed more than 2,300 enemy aerial targets. Helicopters have additionally destroyed 379 strike drones.

He noted that Ukrainian-made drones show the highest efficiency and stressed the need to further increase their numbers, particularly those with automatic guidance systems.

Special attention is also being paid to introducing artificial intelligence and automation in air defense systems.

According to Syrskyi, Russia continues to increase drone production and improve their use, so Ukraine is preparing for new attacks.
