Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which was damaged as a result of a nighttime Russian attack. He stated that the government would allocate funds for the preservation of the damaged sites and commented on the actions of the Russian leadership.

Zelenskyy said this while speaking with journalists on June 15, according to Suspilne.

At the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Zelenskyy inspected the damage caused by the overnight Russian strike. According to him, the damaged sites need to be urgently preserved, and the government will allocate funds for this work from the reserve fund.

Journalists asked the president what he would say to Vladimir Putin after the attack on the Lavra.

“And we will still say it,” Zelenskyy replied.

The president also commented on the fact that the massive Russian strike took place the day after U.S. President Donald Trump’s birthday, whom Putin had previously congratulated.

“So that he would not have to make excuses. Therefore, if there had been a massive attack, the president’s [of the United States] team and he himself, I think, would have raised this issue. Why would Putin need these questions during congratulations to the U.S. president? So he, as always, cynically congratulated the U.S. president and after that launched a massive strike on Ukraine. I think it was not a coincidence. For several days they were not only stockpiling missiles, they were waiting — so as not to do it before congratulating the U.S. president,” Zelenskyy said.
