President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on social media about the consequences of Russia’s massive night-time attack on Ukrainian cities. According to him, the debris from Russian missiles and drones is being cleared in Kyiv, and rescue workers and emergency services are working at the sites of the strikes. As a result of the shelling, numerous fires were reported in the capital, residential buildings, cars and businesses were damaged. There are wounded.
The president called the night extremely difficult for all of Ukraine. According to him, Russia used 250 strike drones, most of which were Iranian ‘Shahed’ drones, as well as 14 ballistic missiles. The strikes hit the Odesa, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In all cases, the attacks were directed at civilian infrastructure. There are casualties.
Zelensky emphasised that the responsibility for prolonging the war lies with Moscow, which is ignoring all Ukrainian proposals to cease fire, both on the ground and in the air. The president called on allies to impose new sanctions against key sectors of the Russian economy to force the aggressor to stop the attacks.
‘We are waiting for sanctions from the US, Europe and all our partners. Only additional sanctions will force Moscow to cease fire,’ Zelensky said. He thanked everyone who supports Ukraine.
