Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held detailed discussions with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, focusing on diplomatic efforts to end the war and strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
Speaking with Tokayev, Zelensky stressed the importance of international law and the principle that independent states must not be treated as mere “territories” to be divided. He highlighted Ukraine’s ongoing diplomatic work — including talks with US President Donald Trump and European partners — aimed at securing a fair and lasting peace. “Decisions about Ukraine must be made with Ukraine’s participation. All partners understand this,” he said.
In talks with Kristersson, Zelensky thanked Sweden for providing $4 billion in military assistance in 2025. The two leaders discussed the battlefield situation, diplomatic pressure on Russia, and the development of Ukraine’s air force. They agreed to exchange visits soon and work jointly on decisions regarding combat platforms for Ukraine’s future air fleet.
