Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that as a result of the morning Russian attack, the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv was damaged for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion. She wrote about this in a comment on a video she posted on social media.

According to the head of government, the fire in the building was quickly extinguished and there were no casualties. She thanked the rescuers and stressed that despite the destruction, the government continues to work.

Svyrydenko noted that four people were killed and more than 44 were injured in Russia’s shelling of Ukraine overnight.

‘It is obvious that Russia does not want peace. I call on our partners and all countries of the world to turn their disappointment with Russia’s actions into effective assistance to Ukraine — not for government buildings, but for the protection of our people throughout the country,’ the prime minister wrote.

She stressed the urgent need to strengthen the air defence system, in particular to protect energy infrastructure ahead of winter, and called for increased sanctions pressure on Russia.

‘Only unity and a strong response can stop Russia and bring peace,’ Svyrydenko concluded.
