Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted two bills to the Verkhovna Rada aimed at combating fraudulent call centers. The legislation would strengthen criminal liability for those who organize such schemes, profit from them or otherwise participate in fraudulent activities.
Zelensky announced the move in his address.
“We need to put a complete end to such a phenomenon as fraudulent call centers,” the president said.
According to Zelensky, criminal penalties should be strengthened for those who organize the operation of such call centers, profit from them or otherwise participate in fraudulent schemes.
He noted that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are already taking steps to combat such operations but need additional legislative tools.
“Our law enforcement agencies are already taking the necessary steps, and we need to give them more legislative tools,” he said.
Zelensky urged lawmakers to consider the bills without delay.
The president did not specify the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code or the potential penalties in his address.
