Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with US President Donald Trump after the visit of his special representative Stephen Witkoff to Moscow.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this on Telegram.
According to Zelenskyy, European leaders also participated in the negotiations. The President emphasized the common position of Ukraine and its partners.
“Our joint position with our partners is absolutely clear – the war must end. And it must be done honestly. Ukraine will definitely defend its independence. We all need a lasting and reliable peace. Russia must end the war that it itself started,” Zelenskyy noted.
Before that, US President Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that he considered the meeting between Witkoff and Putin productive.
“Significant progress has been made. I have since briefed some of our European allies. Everyone agrees that this war must be ended, and we will be working on that in the coming days and weeks,” Trump said.
