President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved new long-range operations in response to Russian strikes and said Ukraine is preparing to expand its long-range capabilities. Changes are also being prepared in the management of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Medical Forces and in approaches to recruiting foreign volunteers.
Zelenskyy announced this following briefings from Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi.
“I have also approved new long-range operations in response to Russian strikes. We are preparing to expand our long-range capabilities,” the president said.
Zelenskyy also said that following a change in the leadership of the Medical Forces Command, decisions are being prepared to update management approaches and the system for responding to challenges.
According to him, the priority should be to expand successful practices already used by combat brigades and effective brigade support services.
The meeting also addressed updates to the regulatory framework and approaches to recruiting foreign volunteers into Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
The president also spoke about efforts to counter jet-powered Shahed drones. According to him, several Ukrainian developments have already proven effective in real-world conditions and have successfully shot down such drones.
“We are working to ensure systematic deployment, consistent effectiveness in interceptions and the necessary mass production,” Zelenskyy said.
In addition, the president and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine identified further priorities for active operations by Ukrainian forces on the front line.
