The announcement was made by Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction.

As previously reported by the media, Ukraine’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, flew from Gomel, Belarus, to Anapa, Russia, before traveling on to Oleshky.

Lubinets earlier said he was personally taking part in the humanitarian mission, which required lengthy and difficult negotiations to arrange.

According to the Office of the Ukrainian Ombudsman, the humanitarian agreement was signed by Lubinets on behalf of Ukraine and Yana Lantratova, head of the Russian negotiating team, on behalf of Russia. The office stressed that the agreement concerns solely the rescue of civilians and is neither a military nor a political deal.

The Ombudsman’s Office also thanked US First Lady Melania Trump for her assistance in coordinating and facilitating the mission.
