The Ukrainian delegation worked in the United States for two days, holding consultations with the American side. The next stage of the talks is planned to take place in Davos.
Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov said that he worked in the United States for two days together with Kyrylo Budanov and Davyd Arakhamia. On the American side, the consultations involved Steven Witkoff, Jared Kushner, U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, and White House staffer Josh Gruenbaum.
According to Umerov, the sides held substantive discussions on economic development and the prosperity plan, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine, focusing on practical mechanisms for their implementation. The Ukrainian side also informed its American partners about recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Following the meetings, the parties agreed to continue work at the team level during the next stage of consultations in Davos.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had received reports from the Ukrainian delegation in the United States. According to him, Rustem Umerov briefed on meetings with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump, and several rounds of talks have already taken place, during which the sides are working on documents needed to end the war.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the Ukrainian team fully informs the American side about developments in Ukraine and about Russia’s ongoing strikes on the energy system. He also said that if Russia truly wanted to end the war, it would focus on diplomacy rather than missile attacks, blackouts, and attempts to damage Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, stressing the need for continued pressure on the aggressor and a clear global stance toward Russia.
