This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an update as of 4:00 p.m. on May 18.
A total of 70 combat engagements have taken place along the front line. Russian forces continue to shell border communities. Today, the settlements of Zarichchia and Klyusy in Chernihiv region, as well as Bila Bereza, Popivka, and Stepok in Sumy region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy launched one assault near Vovchansk and carried out an airstrike near Kamyanka. In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops attempted two attacks near Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched eight assaults near Tverdokhlibove, Kopanky, Ridkodub, Hrekivka, Torske, and toward Karpivka. One engagement is still ongoing. In the Siversk direction, there were four enemy assaults near Verkhniokamianske and Bilohorivka, with one battle continuing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, all five enemy attacks near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and Stupochky were repelled. Ukrainian defenders also repelled three out of four enemy assaults in the Toretsk direction; one battle is still in progress.
The fiercest fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy launched 25 assaults. Ukrainian troops repelled 22 of them, with three battles still ongoing. Popiv Yar and Pokrovsk were hit by airstrikes.
In the Novopavlivka direction, seven enemy assaults were repelled, and six battles are ongoing. In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy did not conduct any assaults but launched an airstrike with unguided rockets on Huliaipole. In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one assault toward Lukianivske. Novoandriivka was struck by an airstrike.
In the Prydniprovske direction, a single enemy assault near Odradokamianka was repelled. The area was also targeted by unguided aerial rockets.
In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five enemy attacks, and one engagement continues. Russian aircraft launched 10 airstrikes, dropping 22 guided aerial bombs. A total of 116 artillery strikes targeted Ukrainian positions and settlements.
