Ukrainian Armed Forces push back Russians from Kupyansk

Ukrainian troops have pushed back Russian troops from Kupyansk in Kharkiv region and are now controlling the situation on the outskirts of the city.

The spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops, Nazar Voloshyn, said this on television.

“The Russians are trying to act in small assault groups, gradually accumulating forces. They do this without involving a large number of armored vehicles. However, we managed to stabilize the situation and the enemy was pushed back from Kupyansk. Our troops are destroying equipment and occupants trying to cross to the other side. All actions are under the control of our Defense Forces. If some groups try to cross the river consisting of 8-10 people, only 2-3 of them reach the shore. The enemy is eliminated at this stage,” he noted.

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, emphasized that Russian troops are using boats to cross the Oskil River in Kupyansk district, but Ukrainian defenders are destroying these groups.

“Such facts have taken place. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups regularly test the defense of our military and use various tactics. They cross the Oskil river by boat and try to get through minefields. Our soldiers timely detect these attempts and destroy the enemy on the outskirts of Kupyansk and other territories. The fighting has been active for the second day,” he added.
