President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a coordination meeting on the energy situation and the aftermath of Russian strikes. The most difficult conditions remain in Kyiv, where more than 1,400 apartment buildings are still without heating.
Zelenskyy said support for residents is being expanded, including an increase in the distribution of “heat packages,” which is expected to reach 40,000 units in the near future, with a significant share allocated to the capital.
Officials also reported on the situation in the Kyiv region, Kharkiv and surrounding areas, as well as Sumy, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Dnipro, Kropyvnytskyi and other regions. In the Kherson region, six settlements remain in severe energy conditions due to constant drone strikes, creating extremely difficult circumstances for recovery efforts.
The meeting addressed expanding cross-border cooperation with Romania to increase potential electricity imports to Ukraine and discussed the condition of nuclear generation facilities, which Russia continues to target along with related infrastructure and power networks. Zelenskyy stressed the need for stronger protection and greater international awareness of the threat.
He also discussed with the Air Force commander and the defense minister the implementation of partners’ commitments to supply air defense missiles. According to the president, a clear delivery schedule is required, and all state institutions must work to accelerate supplies to prevent pauses that strengthen the impact of Russian attacks.
