Ukraine repatriated 31 civilians from Belarus

Ukraine succeeded in returning 31 civilians who had been held on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The handover took place as part of negotiations conducted by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, following instructions from the President of Ukraine.

Those returning to Ukraine include both women and men who had been detained in Belarus and sentenced to various prison terms — from 2 to 11 years. The youngest of those freed is 18 years old, while the oldest is 58. Among the released civilians are people suffering from serious illnesses, including cancer.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the United States and President Donald Trump for their assistance in securing the return of Ukrainian civilians and military personnel from Belarus and Russia. The agency also thanked all state institutions involved in the process.
