Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of the Defense AI Center “A1”, which will become the first center for implementing artificial intelligence in military technologies. The project will be carried out with the support of the UK government.
According to Fedorov, the Ministry of Defense is creating a system of competence centers across key areas of modern warfare — drones, Middle Strike, Deep Strike, artillery, and others. Their task will be to continuously analyze the battlefield, technologies, and define the next steps in development.
The first such center will be the Defense AI Center “A1”. Its key functions include analyzing combat data, forecasting enemy actions, developing autonomous systems, and creating new command and control tools.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the center will help rapidly transform battlefield experience and frontline data into technological solutions, as well as accelerate the implementation of innovations within the armed forces.
Fedorov emphasized that AI solutions should become part of every domain of modern warfare — from intelligence to command and control. According to him, Ukraine’s goal is to build the most effective defense system in Europe and a next-generation army based on speed of innovation, autonomous systems, and network superiority.
