Ukraine has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to another escalation by Russia, which led to the death of civilians and large-scale destruction in Kyiv on July 31.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.

The emergency meeting of the UN Security Council will be held today, August 1, under the agenda item “Maintaining Peace and Security in Ukraine”.

Sybiga stressed that Russian President Putin “rejects efforts for peace and seeks to prolong his war”.

At the same time, the Foreign Minister stressed that the international community has enough strength to stop him – through joint pressure and a principled position in favor of a complete ceasefire.

“The evening meeting of the UN Security Council will become a platform to clearly state such decisive positions”, – added Sybiga.
