Ukraine and Norway have agreed to launch joint production of mid-strike drones. Several thousand drones are planned to be manufactured for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, production will be established in Norway, and all manufactured systems will be delivered to Ukrainian forces.
The project will be financed by Norway using additional funds on top of the $7 billion in defense support already allocated to Ukraine for 2026.
The agreement was signed in Kyiv by Norway’s Ambassador to Ukraine Lars Ragnar Aalerud Hansen and Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Serhii Boiev.
The Ministry noted that the agreement enables the scaling of Ukrainian technologies that have already proven effective on the battlefield, while also strengthening the defense capabilities of both countries.
The first drones produced in Norway are expected to be delivered to Ukraine’s Defense Forces by the summer of 2026.
In addition, Norway plans to allocate more than $1.5 billion in 2026 to purchase Ukrainian-made weapons for the Ukrainian military.
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said that joint drone production projects directly enhance Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities and represent a mutually beneficial partnership with Norway.
The agreement also предусматривает the development of industrial cooperation and joint research in defense technologies.
