Zelenskyy thanked the United Kingdom for its decision to allocate £210 million for the supply of enriched uranium to support Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector.

The leaders also discussed increasing sanctions pressure on Russia. The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude for the latest UK sanctions targeting Russia’s shadow fleet and financial networks used to circumvent international restrictions.

According to the Office of the President, the new British measures are the first to target tankers transporting Russian liquefied natural gas.

Zelenskyy stressed the need for a legal mechanism that would allow not only the interception but also the seizure of vessels carrying sanctioned energy resources.

The leaders also discussed additional ways to increase economic pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy noted that Moscow continues to reject negotiations and carry out attacks against Ukrainian cities, making stronger sanctions necessary.

Another topic of discussion was the damage caused by recent Russian strikes. Zelenskyy informed Starmer about the destruction at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and discussed possible British participation in restoring the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The leaders also focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. The Office of the President said that enhancing air defense systems, particularly anti-ballistic capabilities, remains one of Ukraine’s most urgent priorities.
