Poland will host large-scale military exercises involving nearly 5,000 troops from the “Coalition of the Willing” from November 9 to 22. Meanwhile, Polish authorities have strengthened security along the border with Russia following reports of suspicious activity and warnings of possible provocations.

        This was reported by RMF24.

The exercises will take place at a training ground in Nowa Dęba. According to Poland’s Ministry of National Defence, nearly 2,000 Polish troops will participate, with the remaining personnel coming from other countries.

The main purpose of the drills is to test the Coalition of the Willing’s readiness for a potential deployment of troops to Ukraine after the war ends. The military will practice command procedures, logistics for moving troops and equipment across Europe, and counter-drone operations.

NATO has been informed about the exercises but will not participate directly. Ukrainian troops will not take part in the drills, with only a Ukrainian delegation attending in Poland.

Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported suspicious activity near the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region. On the night of November 3, border guards spotted people carrying flashlights near the town of Sępopol.

According to Tusk, Polish and allied intelligence services had previously warned of possible acts of sabotage, provocations, and incursions by armed individuals into Poland during the first half of November.

Following these warnings, the authorities deployed additional police forces and counterterrorism units to border areas and strengthened border security. A special coordination headquarters was established to oversee operations in the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie voivodeships.

According to RMF24, the individuals were spotted on the Russian side of the border and later withdrew deeper into the Kaliningrad region. No crossing of the Polish border was recorded.

Tusk stressed that the threat of Russian provocations remains and that Polish security services must stay prepared for possible incidents.
