Today, Ukraine marks Father’s Day — a holiday honoring people whose love often needs no loud words, but is felt through actions, care and presence.

A father is not only the person who holds your hand in childhood. He is someone who teaches you to stand firm when life is difficult, to be responsible for your words, not to give up after setbacks and to find the strength to keep going.

For many Ukrainian families, this holiday carries a special meaning today. Many fathers are spending it away from home: on the front line, at work far from their loved ones, while the war has split families in two. For their children, a father’s love often comes through in a short phone call, a message, a promise to return and the quiet certainty that dad is still near, even when hundreds of kilometers separate him from home.

There are fathers who build a sense of safety for their children every day. There are those who taught them how to fix a bicycle, tie their shoelaces, keep their word and not fear responsibility. There are those who did not always say “I love you,” but proved it every day — through work, protection, patience and a readiness to offer support.

Father’s Day is also a day of gratitude to those who became a pillar of support not by title, but by their actions. To those who raised, supported, protected, waited, explained and simply stood by us in the most important moments.

Today is a day to say the simple words that are sometimes postponed for later: thank you, dad. For your strength, your care, your example and your love — often quiet, but very strong.
