Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia intends to make its methods of war against Ukraine “much tougher.” At the same time, he opposed ending hostilities along the current line of contact.
Sergey Lavrov made the statement in an interview with the propaganda outlet Vesti.
According to him, Russia does not intend to “stoop to terrorist acts,” but plans to intensify its strikes.
“We will make our own methods much tougher in order to destroy everything that fuels Kyiv’s war machine from the West. And we are already doing this, and they are already starting to moan,” he said.
Lavrov also said that calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities are now being heard increasingly often. However, according to him, fighting should stop only if there is a “long-term, reliable and sustainable settlement.”
Separately, the Russian foreign minister opposed halting the war along the line of contact.
“If we were suddenly to stop now at the line of contact, we would, in essence, allow the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who defeated Nazism to be erased,” Lavrov said.
He also linked the continuation of the war to “responsibility for the thousand-year history of the Russian state.”
