In the Siverskyi direction, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was shot while surrendering, according to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Earlier, the DeepState Telegram monitoring channel reported on the incident.
During a sweep of the private sector near the village of Svyato-Pokrovske, a Russian soldier discovered a Ukrainian defender in a dilapidated house. When the Ukrainian soldier came out with his hands up to surrender, the occupier opened fire from an ambush.
After being wounded, the Ukrainian soldier tried to take cover, but the Russian soldier finished him off with a shot from an automatic weapon.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the war crime that caused the death of a person, under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Urgent investigative measures are underway to establish all the circumstances and identify the Russian serviceman involved.
The deliberate killing of a prisoner of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and a serious international crime.
