According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, ZBROYA has become the shared identity of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex. The brand name was first introduced in February 2025 during a speech by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a presentation of Ukraine’s defense industry achievements, attended by world leaders and representatives of the European Commission.
ZBROYA brings together all components of the defense ecosystem — the government, state and private enterprises, research institutes, universities, R&D centers, startups, volunteers, charitable foundations, and international partners. Together they create and supply advanced, battle-tested technology that forms what Ukraine calls the “Arsenal of the Free World.”
Today, Ukraine’s defense ecosystem comprises around 900 manufacturers — including over 100 state-owned and 800 private companies — as well as more than 1,000 teams developing innovative solutions. The sector employs over 300,000 people.
The Defense Ministry noted that Ukraine’s defense industry has expanded 35-fold in just three years — from $1 billion in 2022 to $35 billion in 2025. Currently, more than 40% of the weapons used on the frontlines are Ukrainian-made.
One of the key components of this ecosystem is the digital platform zbroya.gov.ua, launched by the Ministry of Defense on August 18, 2025. It serves as a single entry point for defense manufacturers, providing access to government services such as employee reservation, low-interest loans, grants for component producers and startups, and the “Iron Testing Range” for new equipment trials.
The ZBROYA ecosystem also supports Ukrainian veterans seeking to join the defense sector. The platform features verified job opportunities, and more than 150 companies have already signed the Veteran-Friendly Business Principles.
According to the Defense Ministry, the true strength of ZBROYA lies in the people — those who create Ukraine’s weapons, defend the nation, and shape its technological future.
