The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine initiated a telephone conversation with its American counterparts amid reports of a possible halt in the supply of defence aid.
This was reported by the Ukrainian defence ministry.
‘Ukraine has not received any official notifications about the suspension or revision of the agreed defence aid supply schedules, so we are proceeding on the basis of factual data and checking the details of each item in the supply. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has requested a telephone conversation with its US counterparts for further clarification of the details,’ the statement said.
The results of contacts with American partners will be reported additionally at the level of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
On 1 July, American media reported that the Pentagon was halting the supply of ammunition to Ukraine, including air defence missiles and artillery. According to media reports, this decision may have been made by the head of the Pentagon’s political department, Elbridge Colby, after assessing American military stocks.
