The Main Intelligence Directorate has revealed technical details of the new Russian S8000 ‘Banderol’ missile

Russia has begun using the new S8000 ‘Banderol’ cruise missile, manufactured with extensive use of foreign components. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, experts have already analysed the missile and found that its design includes components from China, Japan, the United States, South Korea, Australia and Switzerland. In particular:

Ad

  • batteries — from the Japanese company Murata,
  • telemetry module — from RF Design (Australia),
  • servo drive — Dynamixel (South Korea),
  • microcontroller — STMicroelectronics (Switzerland),
  • phototransistor — Toshiba (Japan).

The missile is launched from the Orion UAV, but in the future it is planned to adapt it for Russian Mi-28N attack helicopters.

The missile is manufactured by Kronstadt. Its characteristics are as follows:

  • length — approximately 5 m,
  • wingspan — 2.2 m,
  • body diameter — 30 cm,
  • maximum speed — up to 650 km/h,
  • flight range — up to 500 km.

The missile uses a Chinese Swiwin turbojet engine with a maximum thrust of 81.6 kgf.

The missile is equipped with an OFBCH-150 warhead, with a total weight of 114.3 kg, of which 49.5 kg is explosive.
