The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is using long-range S-200 anti-aircraft missiles to strike Russian occupiers.
This became known from a video released by the GUR.
The footage shows the preparation of missiles for launch: loading onto the launcher and refuelling with rocket fuel. The launch itself can then be seen.
The S-200 anti-aircraft missile system, designed to destroy air targets at long ranges, has been adapted by the Ukrainian military for strikes against ground targets.
Earlier it was reported that Poland could be the source of the S-200 systems, as during the Defence24 Days 2023 conference, a representative of the Polish command stated that their anti-aircraft missile brigade no longer had these systems in service. However, it is also possible that the Ukrainian systems could have been refurbished.
Russian sources have reported several times that Ukraine is using modernised S-200 anti-aircraft missiles. In particular, such statements were made back in the summer of 2023.
