Reform of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which began six months ago, is continuing. All Territorial Defense brigades are transitioning to a unified structure with an expanded drone component.
This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi in a Facebook post.
According to him, the brigades will receive heavy artillery units, air defense missile units, and units equipped with ground robotic systems. This is expected to significantly increase the combat capabilities of Territorial Defense brigades and enable them to effectively defend their designated areas of responsibility.
Syrskyi noted that Territorial Defense units are planned to be used primarily in defensive operations.
The goal of the reform is to increase the combat effectiveness of the Territorial Defense Forces while reducing the number of losses.
The commander-in-chief emphasized that the systematic modernization of the structure and armament of the Territorial Defense Forces, along with improvements in logistics capabilities, is a necessary investment in Ukraine’s defense amid the prolonged full-scale war.
