Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi held the final annual meeting on military training.

During the meeting, with the participation of the leadership of the General Staff, commanders of the services and branches of the armed forces, as well as commanders of combat units, key areas of work were identified.

Highlights:

  • The duration of basic training: recruits are already undergoing a 1.5-month course of basic general military training (BGMT) instead of the previous 30-day training. In the future, it is planned to increase the total training to two months.
  • Adaptation in military units: the newcomer’s course in military units provides for 5-14 days of adaptation. However, due to the intensity of hostilities, this period is not always met. Syrsky emphasized the need to provide a full 14-day course.
  • Updating standards: it is planned to update approaches to basic training, including conducting basic training at the facilities of combat brigades.

“High-quality training means, first of all, preserving the lives and health of our soldiers,” the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
