Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement for the purchase of 16 Gripen E fighter jets.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to him, along with the aircraft, Ukraine will receive a package of related equipment, technical assistance, and support.
Zelensky also said that, under previous agreements with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, the first 16 Gripen C/D aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine’s Air Force in early 2027.
The president thanked Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson for his support and cooperation during their meeting.
The parties discussed the implementation of these steps in detail, as well as broader bilateral cooperation.
In particular, they discussed preparations for the Drone Deal and work on anti-ballistic capabilities.
Zelensky thanked Sweden, its people, and its government for their partnership and continued assistance since the start of Russia’s invasion.
