Sources in the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) claim that after a Ukrainian drone strike on the Aleksin chemical plant near Tula, explosions occurred at the enterprise and the staff was evacuated.

Earlier, the Russian authorities stated that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the shelling of the town of Oleksyn, and that glass was shattered in several private houses.

According to sources in Ukraine’s security services, at least 13 drones struck the plant at night, and a cloud of orange smoke is currently rising over the plant as ‘a key target, the gunpowder production shop, was hit.’

The SSU says that after 1pm, another explosion occurred at the plant, linked to ‘chemicals catching fire’.

The governor of Tula Region, Dmitry Milyaev, reported that as a result of the drone attack in the town of Aleksin near Tula (where the chemical plant is located), ‘the glazing of four private houses was damaged’.

According to the Baza channel, which is close to the security forces, the plant was attacked by 10 drones, one of which was shot down, ‘eight fell on the territory of the plant’, and another on the territory of the Aleksinskaya CHP. At the same time, the Baza channel wrote that ‘there was almost no damage – only the glazing of several buildings was damaged’.

At the same time, several videos were posted on social media, allegedly from the plant, showing clouds of orange smoke.
