The Prime Minister of Ukraine spoke about the features of the new system that will replace medical and social expert commissions.
Shmyhal spoke about this at a government meeting.
Shmyhal noted that the new system will be digitized, aimed at maximizing rehabilitation, returning people to active life and adapting jobs to individual needs. The assessment of the patient’s condition and recovery needs will be carried out by teams of doctors in multidisciplinary medical institutions. Additionally, there will be a possibility of remote, correspondence and on-site assessment. All processes and documents will be recorded in an electronic system to reduce the risk of corruption. Also, statistics on the work of teams, their decisions and queues will be open for viewing online.
“We are striving to bring the system closer to European rehabilitation standards, where about 50% of people return to active life after injuries or illnesses. At the same time, the disability status remains, providing access to social services, benefits, rehabilitation and employment assistance. No changes are expected for those who already have a disability,” emphasized Shmyhal.
He also added that the main objectives of the new system are to restore health and provide the necessary social support, as well as to ensure that people can work and support their families.
