Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that education remains one of the key priorities of the Ukrainian state. He said this during the “New Ukraine Education” conference, outlining the main goals and directions of the education system reform.
The main focus, according to Shmyhal, is preparing children for the challenges of the 21st century, developing critical thinking, and fostering the ability to adapt and remain competitive in the labor market. At the same time, the core principle of the reform remains unchanged: the child, their safety, interests, and needs must be at the center of all changes.
“Over the past two years, the government has allocated nearly 14 billion hryvnias for the repair and construction of shelters in schools. Fifteen underground school facilities have already been built in frontline regions, and by the end of the year there will be more than 180,” the Prime Minister noted. According to him, 80% of Ukrainian schools already have various types of shelters.
Shmyhal also highlighted other achievements: the reform of the New Ukrainian School, the launch of the digital educational ecosystem “Mriia”, the development of vocational education, state grants for students on contract, and university autonomy.
“I thank Ukrainian educators. Your work is a key driver of positive change,” the Prime Minister concluded.
