Ukraine has received 11 requests from countries for security support in countering drones and similar threats amid the war in Iran. This was reported by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to him, the issue was discussed during a meeting of the Staff, where the consequences of the war in Iran for global markets, Europe and Ukraine were analyzed.
The president noted that during the meeting the participants discussed destabilization caused by the war in Iran and the related risks for global markets, countries in the region and Ukraine’s partners that support it in countering Russian aggression. According to him, events in the Middle East and the Gulf region directly affect Europe, Ukraine and other parts of the world, as well as critically important supplies and the safety of people.
Reports on the situation were delivered by the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the heads of intelligence agencies, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the defense minister. Participants of the meeting analyzed the prospects of the war in Iran and the possible consequences of its prolongation.
According to the president, as of now there are 11 requests from countries — neighbors of Iran, European states and America — for security support. These concern interest in Ukraine’s experience in protecting lives, interceptors, electronic warfare systems and training. Ukraine has already responded to some of these requests with concrete decisions and support.
Zelenskyy noted that the National Security and Defense Council together with the General Staff and the Defense Forces will determine which other requests Ukraine can respond to positively without reducing its own defense capabilities. He stressed that the priority is to prevent the Iranian regime from gaining any advantage over those who defend life and that joint efforts are needed to stabilize the situation both in the region and on global markets.
“Ukraine is ready to respond positively to the requests of those who help us protect the lives of Ukrainians and the independence of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also said that Ukraine has long been proposing that partners strengthen joint capabilities to protect against drones and missiles and destroy the weapons production facilities of aggressive regimes. According to him, all production sites of “Shahed” drones are known, and the Iranian and Russian regimes support each other, including through the use of Russian components in drones used in strikes against Iran’s neighbors.
According to Zelenskyy, the world is stronger than anyone trying to destabilize it, and Ukraine expects its partners to be sufficiently decisive.
