During his visit to Ukraine, American actor and director Sean Penn visited soldiers of the 157th Mechanized Brigade in Donetsk Oblast. The Hollywood star was accompanied to the unit by former Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak.
The photos were published by the 157th Mechanized Brigade.
“Sean Penn, having skipped the Oscars and arrived in Ukraine, was able to personally visit a combat unit of the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which is carrying out combat missions in the Donetsk region,” the post reads.
In the photo alongside Sean Penn is former Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak, whose presence the military did not comment on.
It is noted that during the visit, the actor spoke with Ukrainian servicemen, expressing support and gratitude for their courage and dedication to defending Ukraine.
“His visit is a sign that the world sees and values our heroes, who day after day stand guard to defend our country’s freedom and independence. Such meetings inspire and remind us that even in the most difficult times, we are not alone, and our courage will not go unnoticed,” the statement reads.
As a reminder, on March 16, American actor and director Sean Penn arrived in Ukraine, causing him to miss the Academy Awards ceremony, despite having won in one of the categories.
