The body of Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovska, who was suspected by law enforcement agencies of the Principality of Monaco of attempting to murder a family in the principality, has been found in Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU.

Three people were injured in the attempted murder in Monaco, including a child.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies opened a pre-trial investigation into the case on July 1, 2026. According to law enforcement officials, Berezovska arrived in Ukraine that same day.

As a result of investigative and operational measures, law enforcement established the circle of people she had communicated with, as well as her travel routes.

The investigation established that after returning to Ukraine, Berezovska had contact with her family and two men. One of them is a former law enforcement officer, while the other is a current officer of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate.

According to the SBU, investigators were examining both men as possibly involved in the attempted murder in Monaco, as they had repeatedly transferred funds to Berezovska’s cryptocurrency and bank accounts.

During urgent investigative actions, the current officer of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate reported Berezovska’s murder, which, according to him, he committed together with another suspect.

He also stated that he had not informed his leadership about his contacts with Berezovska, the transfers of funds to her, or any of his other actions, and had acted at his own discretion.

During a search of the former law enforcement officer’s home, investigators found a basement room resembling a torture chamber.

Both suspects were detained on suspicion of murder committed by a group of people by prior conspiracy.

Based on the testimony of one of the accomplices, an investigative experiment was conducted. As a result, law enforcement officers found Berezovska’s body with gunshot wounds to the head, as well as pistol cartridge casings.

A notice of suspicion is currently being prepared. The investigation is ongoing.

The SBU noted that all information available to Ukrainian law enforcement has been provided to the investigative authorities of the Principality of Monaco. The Office of the Prosecutor General is in close cooperation with Monaco’s law enforcement agencies.

Law enforcement officers are identifying the masterminds and other figures involved in the attempted murder of the family in Monaco.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the National Police of Ukraine with operational support from the SBU counterintelligence department and the personal assistance of Oleh Ivashchenko, head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate.
