President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the tasks set a week ago for the Defence Forces in Sumy region have been fully implemented, and the Russian offensive has not achieved its goals.

He announced this after a meeting with the military command and the Minister of Defence.

‘A week ago, special tasks and specific lines were set for our troops. As of today, the tasks set have been fully accomplished. This is important,’ the head of state said.

Zelensky noted that the Defence Forces are also continuing active operations within the Kursk operation. According to the president, the ‘goal of the operation has been achieved’ for almost 10 months now.

The president separately thanked the defenders who are holding the defence in the Pokrovsk direction, where a large Russian group is concentrated and constant assaults are ongoing.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issue of drones — their production, financing, supply, and contract execution. Zelensky noted that in the near future, he will discuss with EU leaders the possibility of additional funding to increase production and create joint projects.
