On the night of 16 May, Russians attacked Ukraine with 112 Shahed strike UAVs and various types of drone simulators.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
As of 09:00, 73 Shahed strike UAVs (and other types of drones) were confirmed shot down in the east, north, south and centre of the country. Another 36 enemy drone simulators were lost without negative consequences.
The regions of Odesa, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Kyiv were affected by the enemy attack.
In Odesa, a Russian drone destroyed the home of the zoo director. Three people were also injured as a result of the Russian attack on the region.
The Air Force also reported the loss of an F-16 fighter jet while repelling a Russian air attack.
