On the night of June 12, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on the Shostka community in Ukraine’s Sumy region. As a result of the attack, a railway employee was killed and another woman sustained serious injuries.
This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration and Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to the regional authorities, Russian forces targeted a civilian infrastructure facility in the Shostka community with a large-scale drone strike overnight.
A 44-year-old woman was killed in the attack. Another victim, aged 33, suffered severe injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
Ukrzaliznytsia said the deceased woman was an employee at one of the railway facilities.
According to preliminary information, during the air raid alert she was heading to a mobile shelter installed on the facility’s premises.
Another employee working at an electrical signaling post was hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed her with a pelvic fracture and internal bleeding. She has already undergone surgery.
A three-story non-residential building sustained significant damage as a result of the attack. Despite the strike, railway traffic was not suspended. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, some trains are running with delays of up to two hours.
