During the night of October 5, Russia carried out one of its largest combined attacks in recent weeks. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the enemy launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones, including Shaheds, cruise missiles, and hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.

The strikes targeted the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions.

“Unfortunately, five people were killed, and about ten others were injured. My deepest condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones because of this terror,” Zelensky said.

The president added that rescue and recovery operations are ongoing in the affected areas. He is receiving constant reports from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba, regional military administrators, and Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretskyi.

“I expect the government to act as quickly and effectively as possible to eliminate the consequences in the affected regions,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

He noted that Russia once again struck civilian and critical infrastructure — facilities essential for normal life across the country.

“We need stronger protection and faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially concerning air defense systems, to make this air terror meaningless. A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible — and it could open the path to real diplomacy. America and Europe must act to make Putin stop,” President Zelenskyy said.
