Russian forces have failed to seize the initiative on the frontline despite attempts to regroup. Ukrainian units continue to hold positions and repel attacks.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a briefing from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. According to him, the rate of Russian losses remains high in April.

At the same time, Ukraine is observing attempts by Russian forces to regroup, likely to compensate for a shortage of personnel. Zelenskyy noted that this explains the increased military activity in Belarus.

According to intelligence, construction of roads toward Ukraine and the establishment of artillery positions are underway in Belarusian border areas. Ukraine believes Russia may again try to draw Belarus into the war.

The president said Ukraine has already warned Belarus’ de facto leadership of its readiness to defend its territory and independence.

Further long-range operations were also discussed during the briefing.
